SO….HOW’S YOUR LIFE GOING?
In a hurry?!?! Got so much going on today that you don’t know how it will all get done? Overwhelming isn’t it?
- Or -
Maybe you are bored silly…there’s not enough to do…the days seem to “drag” on and on?
Are you happy? Frustrated? Disappointed? Depressed? How about quiet time?
Truth be told…I believe there are many of us out there…just
like me! I find it hard to get away from the “clutter”,
the “distractions” and the “noise” in my life. Some
days I want to scream and run away. Well, I guess I could do both. Actually
the screaming would release some pent-up frustration….but running
away? Not likely.
And quiet time…it hardly exists anymore…you see, we feel guilty when we do. There is a little voice inside us telling us the laundry has to be done or the lawn needs to be mowed. There is always something that needs to be done. In our busyness we neglect what is most important in our life….Our Selves!
When we fail to take care of ourselves physically, emotionally and spiritually we leave ourselves open…allowing the “noise” to come in.
Do you want to change it?
Well, I’m here to offer encouragement and hope to help you get there!
Now, I’m not going to give you a list of “Quick Fixes”,
but what I will do is share with you some of the practical things that I
have done that have helped me along the way. I’ll tell you this…change
did not come easy for me. I thought I would break…but I didn’t…there
were some areas that were harder than others to let go.
I want to encourage you, through the Holy Spirit ….you CAN do this!
I thought it would be best to break them up into categories and give you some examples from my life. Let me start with, what I feel, is probably the most important area of all…A Balanced Life.
Hummmm….A Balanced Life!
What does a balanced life look like? We are always in a hurry! We
find ourselves going to extremes…first it’s one direction…then
another. We find ourselves stretched to the point that we are of no
use to anyone, especially ourselves. Then we get depressed because
we know we can’t continue to keep up the pace, afraid because we may
disappoint others, and then we may feel like giving up. Sound familiar? I
used to walk in those shoes for miles and miles. I still do sometimes,
but then I remember the principles that I followed to help free from the “noise”.
For me…a balanced life is essential. My balanced life is not a quiet, sedentary lifestyle. That’s not me! I’m probably one of the busiest people I know. That’s what makes me, me! The balance in my life comes from within my heart…a Spirit rest. I am a Christian and I have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, God’s Son. I do not believe the true ‘Spirit-rest’ is possible without entering into a personal relationship with Jesus. John 14:26 says; “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”
Living the Christian life is a challenge, every day of our lives. There is so much competition in the world for our time, energy, talents and our mind. Yes, I said, our mind. Our minds control everything about us. What we eat, what we wear, where we go, what we think and what we say. Where the mind goes, the man follows!
