Biblical-based counseling
My husband and I were going through
a very difficult time and felt the only choice we had was to divorce….again. You
see we both had been married before and the “baggage” we carried
was one piece of the problem that we had to address. We had gone
to counselors that were not biblically based and we continued to fight
and wanted to give up. Only by the grace of God and the guidance
of the anointed counselors at Christian Life Ministries was our marriage
restored. I
love the way they work…they are used by God as a guide, giving us
the tools necessary to come to our own understanding of what God is doing
in our lives.
Now let me tell you…it was no easy task. Jerry and I went
for a few months, thought we could handle it on our own, only to discover
more “baggage” in the crevices of our hearts. So we went
back and continued to counsel until we both felt we had healed from the
many hurts and disappointments in our lives. Every once in a while
we return…just for a ‘tune-up’. The return sessions
help to remind us of how far we have come in our marriage, in our personal
lives, and of God’s wonderful grace and mercy.
How many times do we go to counselors with the hope they will give us
a quick fix: “How to change your spouse in three easy steps!” Sad,
we want a quick fix…it doesn’t work that way. You see,
it’s not about changing the other person…it’s about
allowing the Holy Spirit to work in our hearts to bring about a change
in us.
